Recreational VehiclesRecreational vehicles include motorcycles, motor homes, jet skies, boats, all terrain vehicles, snowmobiles and collector vehicles. Motorcycles, jet skies, atvs and snowmobiles have coverages that are very similar to an auto policy, except for one difference; you can choose to cover your recreational vehicle for the actual cash value or for an agreed value if any custom work has been done. If you choose an agreed value, you either have to have a copy of the sales contract or have an appraisal done. Motor Home InsuranceMotor home policies are available with three different coverages. You can choose between actual cash value, agreed value or, if the motor home is new, total replacement cost. In the latter case, your vehicle will be replaced for a new one at the location where it was damaged. If you choose total replacement cost coverage, it will automatically convert to actual cash value coverage after five years. There are a number of additional coverages available that can be added to your motor home policy, such as emergency expense, vacation liability and personal effects. Emergency expense coverage pays up to a specified amount for lodging and transportation if your vehicle breaks down. Vacation liability covers any claims that could arise from third party injuries while your vehicle is parked. Personal effects covers your personal property in the motor home, including cameras, cell phones, etc. Boatowner InsuranceBasic boatowner policies are the same as motorcycle, atv or snowmobile policies, but have optional coverages that can be added for an extra premium. You can insure your fishing equipment for a specified amount and you can also insure your personal property that you might have with you on the boat. Collector or Classic Vehicle InsuranceCollector or classic cars carry the same insurance as a regular auto policy. However, the value of the vehicle must be stated specifically. It is important that you have your collector car appraised whenever there is an increase in value. |
